Chartthaipattana MP Nikorn Chamnong said on Friday he had Covid-19 and was concerned about 49 other members of the House committee reviewing the new election law who were at two meetings he attended this week.

Mr Nikorn posted on his Facebook account on Friday, saying he attended committee meetings on Wednesday and Thursday.

"Please be careful. Covid in this wave is all around us. I have protected myself quite strictly, mostly worn two face masks at a time and had two shots of AZ (AstraZeneca) vaccine and the third shot of Pfizer," he wrote.

He said he tested negative for Covid-19 before attending Wednesday's meeting but on Thursday evening, after the second meeting, he had a blocked nose. Then he had two antigen tests, which returned positive.

He was in home isolation and was worried about the 49 other members of the House committee who were at the meetings.

Committee spokesman Somkid Chueakong said that the panel could suspend work for a week without any serious impact.

Those who had sat close to Mr Nikorn included Deputy Public Health Minister Sathit Pitutecha,  who is the chairman, and Pheu Thai Party and opposition leader Cholnan Srikaew, Mr Somkid said.
