BGT Golden Buzzer explained: Axel Blake, Loren Allred and Born To Perform all chosen

Britain's Got Talent 2022 kicked off earlier this month, with a whole array of new talent hoping to make it to the final and win the prize.

Judges Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, David Walliams and Simon Cowell are all back this time around, following Ashley Banjo stepping in for Simon back in 2020.

The show was off air in 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic, so the latest hopefuls are ready to bring the entertainment and jaw-dropping performances.

A lucky few will even secure a Golden Buzzer win from the judges, as well as hosts Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly.

But what is the Golden Buzzer, what does it mean and who can press it? Here's all the details on the series twist, and who has won one so far...

What does the Golden Buzzer mean on BGT?

Britain's Got Talent is back this weekend after a hiatus, which means there's new Golden Buzzer acts set to be revealed (PA)

If an act is awarded the golden buzzer at the end of their audition, it grants them a place in one of the live semi-finals of the show.

This means they skip past the bootcamp stage of the competition, giving them a head start

The golden buzzer is pressed by a judge or host when they decide they want a particular audition to go straight through to the live shows.

This year, all of the golden buzzer acts have automatically made it through to the final.

Who gets a Golden Buzzer act?

Who are the Golden Buzzer acts for 2022?

The latest series' chosen acts have yet to be confirmed in full, as the auditions are still under way.

All five chosen acts will be announced across the different episodes in the coming weeks, with Loren Allred from The Greatest Showman being the first to be confirmed as a Golden Buzzer act.

Loren was the voice behind the iconic track from the hit movie, but the on-screen part went to actress Rebecca Ferguson. Asked why she wanted to come on the show, she said before impressing fans with her incredible rendition of the hit track: "I feel kind of like the song was meant for me and I'm ready to put a face to the song, so I'm here to do that."

In the second episode of the series, Axel Blake was given a Golden Buzzer tonight from none other than show boss Simon Cowell - but he made a string of conditions first as he asked for discount on a kitchen fitting.

The comedian impressed with his hilarious comedy sketch, where he joked about the Tube, the pandemic and contactless cards. Giving his verdict, Simon said: "There's something I have to say to you though. I like a granite worktop, and a waste disposal unit. I want 25 per cent off and you can have this," before pressing the Golden Buzzer.

The third episode of this year's series saw comedian David Walliams press his golden buzzer for dance troupe Born To Perform.

According to their Twitter bio, Born to Perform are an inclusive, accessible and current dance school and support service for children and adults with SEN and disabilities.'

A mixture of boys and girls of all different ages, the group brought energy, joy and pure happiness to the stage as they performed to Hairspray's 'You Can't Stop The Beat'.

As their audition came to an end, all four judges gave them a standing ovation before giving their feedback.

The penultimate Golden Buzzer came for magician Keiichi Iwasaki, who received hosts Ant and Dec's golden seal of approval.

The Japanese magician left the judges and audience gobsmacked as he invited judge Alesha Dixon to assist him in a mind-blowing illusion, which saw him levitate a ring above her finger.

The final Golden Buzzer was pressed by Alesha Dixon, who chose musical duo Flintz & Taylor to take home the glory, after a rousing performance saw 22-year-old Flintz perform his autobiographical track 'Change' while 17-year-old Taylor played the piano.

Before Alesha reached for the Golden Buzzer she said: "Nothing makes me more happy than seeing young musicians. You had something to say Flintz, we've had no-one on the show like you before which is brilliant.

"And they say in life, 'Save the best till last!'"
