A youth was murdered over a financial matter near Kote Water Tank in Chikkamagaluru city on Monday evening. The deceased has been identified as Dhruvaraj Urs, 23, of Gavanahalli near Chikkamagaluru.
Dhruvaraj Urs had borrowed ₹20,000 from his friend Pramod, a resident of Vastare in Chikkamagaluru taluk. Pramod stopped Dhruvaraj, who was on his bike, near the water tank and asked him to repay the amount. It led to an argument between the two, following which Pramod allegedly hit Dhruvaraj with a dagger and fled. He was rushed to a hospital in Chikkamagaluru, where he succumbed to injuries.
Dhruvaraj’s friend Rakesh filed a complaint with Chikkamagaluru city police. It is said that the money transaction related to cricket betting could be the reason.
