Will Smith Surprises Coachella Crowd With Men In Black Performance

Will Smith looks happy

Will Smith made a surprise appearance at Coachella during the first weekend of the 2024 music festival. The 55-year-old Oscar winner delighted the crowd by reprising his role as 'Agent J' from the 1997 movie Men in Black. Decked out in the iconic Men in Black attire, including Ray Bans, Smith joined J Balvin on stage for an extraterrestrial-themed performance.

Accompanied by alien backup dancers, Smith rapped and danced to the movie's theme song in front of a giant alien head. Towards the end of the performance, he used a neuralyzer to 'erase' the audience's memory of the MiB agents' presence. Despite the memory-wiping attempt, clips of Smith's performance quickly circulated online, generating excitement among fans.

Smith's wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, and son, Jaden Smith, were reportedly in the audience to witness his musical comeback. Jaden was seen hanging out with friends, including Justin Bieber, at Coachella the day before the performance.

Although Smith has shifted his focus to acting, he began his career as a rapper and released several albums in the late '80s and early '90s. His last album, Lost and Found, was released in 2005. While he no longer pursues music full-time, Smith has made occasional musical appearances, such as featuring on singles like 'Live it Up' for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

While the Coachella performance marked the first time Smith and J Balvin shared the stage, they had previously interacted musically. In 2018, Smith posted an Instagram video of himself enjoying J Balvin and Nicky Jam's 'X.' J Balvin also collaborated with Black Eyed Peas for 'Ritmo,' featured on the Bad Boys for Life soundtrack.

J Balvin's Coachella set included performances of his collaborations with Bad Bunny, Cardi B, and Rosalía. The reggaeton singer closed his set with an alien-themed dance break before teasing, 'New season coming soon,' hinting at future projects.
