What's on TV today as Emmerdale and EastEnders return and royal coverage continues

Following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II last week, TV schedules have dramatically changed to reflect the national period of mourning. The TV schedules are still altered today, Tuesday, September 13, particularly BBC One and ITV.

It was announced that The Queen had passed away last Thursday, September 8, and since then, a new monarch has been proclaimed in the form of King Charles III.

Television channels across the country were interrupted and following the confirmation of Her Majesty's death, there have been countless services of remembrance and tribute to the late monarch. In a sudden change to schedule in the days that followed, numerous shows were postponed. Soap fans were particularly affected but now, the likes of Coronation Street, EastEnders and Emmerdale are all scheduled to return, albeit in a different time slot

ITV

  • ITV News takes over at 12pm with live coverage of King Charles' UK tour, this time in Northern Ireland. ITV News continues throughout the afternoon.
  • At 4pm, ITV News will broadcast a special programme 'Queen Elizabeth II: Return To Buckingham Palace' through to 6:10pm.
  • The regional news will be shown at 6:20pm, followed by an extended ITV Evening News bulletin at 6:30pm.
  • An hour long Emmerdale will be shown at 8.35pm, followed by a documentary on the new King, 'Charles: The Monarch and The Man', at 9.05pm. The documentary will be followed by an extended edition of ITV News At Ten.
  • At 11pm, after the regional news, will be another chance to see the documentary 'Our Queen: The People Stories'. Narrated by Nicola Walker, people from all walks of life reflect on meeting the Queen and share how those special moments affected their lives.
