West End hit 2:22 A Ghost Story is coming to Salford just in time for Halloween

Supernatural thriller 2:22 - A Ghost Story will be heading out on its first major UK tour later this year - with a stop in Salford just in time for Halloween.

The critically-acclaimed play has been a smash hit since premiering in London’s West End in 2021. The 'edge of your seat' thriller features a woman who believes her new home is haunted, but her husband isn’t convinced. As expected, it leads to the ultimate battle of belief and scepticism as the pair, along with their first dinner guests, stay up until 2:22 to find out the truth.

The show, written by Danny Robins, creator of the hit BBC podcast The Battersea Poltergeist, has won three WhatsOnStage awards, including Best New Play. 2:22’s UK tour will kick off in Bath in September and will hit Salford’s The Lowry theatre for a five-day run from October 31 to November 4.

Casting for the tour, which will be directed by Matthew Dunster and Isabel Marr, has not yet been announced. The leading role of Jenny has previously been played by Lily Allen and Laura Whitmore, while Cheryl is currently appearing in the role at London's Lyric Theatre until April.

Tom Felton, Giovanna Fletcher, Matt Willis, EastEnders Jake Wood and Encanto's Stephanie Beatriz are amongst some of the stars to have appeared in various roles during the show’s four West End theatre runs.

Writer Robins says of the forthcoming tour: “Over the last year I have had so many people asking me on social media when we are going to bring 2:22 out on tour. That moment has finally arrived.

“We are beyond excited to be taking the show around the UK. It's a play that will make you laugh, scream, cry, think and jump out of your seat - a proper spooky night out - and it's coming to a town near you!!! Do you dare come and watch? We can't wait to see you!”

2:22 comes to The Lowry theatre from October 31-November 4. Tickets for the show, starting at £15.50, are available now and can be bought online here.
