Tony Awards return to Radio City Music Hall in June

NEW YORK — The Tony Awards are returning to the stage.

The annual Broadway awards show will go back to Radio City Music Hall on June 12 for a four-hour live event that will air coast-to-coast.

Like last year, the first hour of the show will air exclusively on Paramount+, then move to CBS at 8 p.m. It will also stream live and on demand on Paramount+.

This marks the return to a semblance of normalcy for the Tonys, which were delayed more than a year during the COVID-19 pandemic and Broadway’s slow reopening. Last year’s 74th annual show, hosted by Leslie Odom Jr., took place on Sept. 26.

While we’re unlikely to see another year like 2021 when Aaron Tveit was the only nominee for leading actor in a musical, the pandemic has still hit shows hard, causing several, including “Jagged Little Pill,” to shut down earlier than expected.

Tony nominations will be announced on May 3.
