Tom Parker's widow Kelsey candidly discusses living with grief as she marks New Year

Tom Parker 's widow has opened up about how she's coping without her late husband after celebrating her first Christmas since his death.

Kelsey Parker, 32, shared a reflective message with her fans on New Year's Day – admitting she's not really sure how to feel about the 2023 or what it has in store for her.

The Wanted singer Tom passed away aged 33 on March 30 last year, following an 18-month battle with brain cancer – and bravely raised money and awareness of the condition prior to his death.

The late singer and Kelsey tied the knot in 2018 and went on to welcome two children – Aurelia and Bodhi – into the world together prior to the star's death.

Reflecting on a tough year on Sunday, Kelsey smiled as she posed for a picture wearing a sparkly blazer to ring in the new year.

She also included a graphic explaining how some people handle grief – with the picture showing how grief doesn't shrink over time, but those who have lost a loved one grow around their grief instead.

The mum-of-two captioned the snap with: "Hello 2023. I wonder what you’ll have in store for us.

"To be honest I’m not really sure how I’m feeling about the new year.

"I want to be hopeful, to look forward to but it’s hard to move forward without looking back."

Kelsey continued to explain how her children will bring her happiness: "I do know that whatever it brings, with Rae and Bo by my side the year will be full of smiles, fun and positivity. We’ll carry on as we were in 2022, living with our grief and growing around it.

"I’m looking forward to sharing it all with you and however you’ve left 2022 I wish you love and happiness for 2023. #PositiveParkersForever."

Kelsey confirmed Tom's sad passing last year, writing on Instagram : "Tom was the centre of our world and we can’t imagine life without his infectious smile and energetic presence."

Tom received the devastating diagnosis he had an inoperable brain tumour while wife Kelsey was pregnant with their second child.

Prior to his death, Kelsey revealed how she’d begged doctors not to tell Tom how long he has to live over fears he would count down the days.

She explained how she didn't want to know how long doctors predicted he would survive, saying: "We didn't ask for one [a prognosis].

"I said that for Tom's state of mind, and who he is as a person, that would not be good for him. He would literally sit here and count down the days and not live his life."

It was reported in November last that Kelsey had started dating electrician Sean Boggans, 39, eight months after Tom's tragic passing.

Last month, Kelsey reportedly had a heart-to-heart with Tom's mother regarding her rumoured new romance.

A source told The Sun: "Explaining the situation to Noreen was one of the hardest things to do because Kelsey's not even sure how she feels about it all right now.

"Explaining the situation to Noreen was one of the hardest things to do because Kelsey’s not even sure how she feels about it all right now. It is all very new and her emotions are naturally all over the place."
