The Fall Guy Movie Pays Homage To Classic TV Series

The Fall Guy movie

For those unfamiliar with the original TV series, The Fall Guy movie may come as a surprise. The film, starring Ryan Gosling, pays homage to the 1980s show that featured Lee Majors as a stuntman who also worked as a bounty hunter. While the movie is not a direct copy of the series, there are several nods to the original that fans of the show will appreciate.

In the movie, Gosling's character, like Majors', is named Colt Seavers and is a stuntman. However, the plot differs as Gosling's character gets involved in a criminal investigation at the behest of a film producer. Emily Blunt plays Seavers' ex-girlfriend, a character reminiscent of the show's Jody Banks, portrayed by Heather Thomas.

A key element from the series, Seavers' iconic GMC Sierra truck, makes an appearance in the film. The truck is used in a memorable stunt where it jumps over obstacles, a nod to the original show's signature chase scenes. Director David Leitch, a former stuntman himself, ensured that the movie paid homage to the series' stunts.

The classic theme song, 'Unknown Stuntman,' is also featured in the movie, albeit with some modifications. While the original song referenced '80s stars like Farrah Fawcett and Robert Redford, the updated version focuses on a more contemporary love theme.

Fans of the original series will be delighted to see Lee Majors and Heather Thomas in a mid-credits scene, reprising their roles in a cameo appearance as officers arresting the bad guys. These familiar faces add an extra layer of nostalgia for viewers who remember the beloved TV show.
