The Crown fans all saying the same thing as old faces return in new episodes

The return of The Crown to our screens has been celebrated by millions of viewers on Netflix, particularly because of two old faces making a surprise return.

The first two episodes of the fifth season of the Royal Family-based series landed on the streaming service earlier this week, with the more excited fans binging them in quick succession before the next drop.

One of the highlights already are the flashback scenes - not least because we get another glimpse at old characters and their previous actors.

The Crown changes its cast every couple of seasons, including for season five.

Season one and two of the show saw Claire Foy win Emmys for her portrayal of a young Queen Elizabeth before she handed over the role to Olivia Colman..

It turns out that Foy wasn't finished there, as the black and white intro scenes to episode one of the new season features a programme called The Queen in Scotland , documenting the Queen's visit to John Brown's yard on Clydeside in 1953, where she launched HMS Britannia.

In a speech for the ship's launching ceremony, Foy's Elizabeth says: "I am delighted to join you in Clydebank today for the launch of this, the latest royal yacht. I hope that this brand-new vessel, like your brand-new queen, will prove to be dependable and constant, capable of weathering any storm. I now take great pride in naming this ship Britannia."

This opening scene sets up a big storyline for season 5 which sees the royal yacht in need of repairs, leading to clashes between Prime Minister John Major and the Queen.

Viewers rejoiced at seeing Foy step back into the role.

One wrote: "My favourite genre is Claire Foy coming back for flashback Elizabeth scenes

"When I tell u all I screamed when I saw Claire Foy being back for some minutes," a second added.

While a third noted: "YOU’RE TELLING ME THERE’S A FLASHBACK WITH CLAIRE FOY AGAIN" and a fourth celebrated: "love Olivia and I'm sure I will love Imelda but Claire Foy will always be the crown."
