Strictly's Fleur East says she 'wasn't surprised' to be in last weekend's dance-off for a third time

After finding herself in a tense dance-off at the weekend, Strictly Come Dancing star Fleur East has admitted that she "expected"s to find herself in the predicament - as the competition on the BBC tournament grows stronger and stronger.

While the 35-year-old radio presenter and her dance partner, Vito Coppola, were awarded a decent 35 out of 40 from judges Craig Revel Horwood, Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke for their Rumba to Too Lost in You by the Sugababes, the public vote meant the duo were pitted up against Ellie Taylor and Johannes Radebe.

And while their reprisal of the dance a second time round was enough to keep them in the competition, Fleur admitted that she was unsurprised to find herself dancing for her place for a third time, despite landing a perfect 40 out of 40 one week prior.

The duo appeared Tuesday on the BBC's 6.15pm showing of Strictly: It Takes Two, where they recapped all of the weekend's action with host Janette Manrara. After praising Fleur for her breathing techniques, the conversation turned to the dance-off.

Janette asked Vito: "Third time in the dance-off Vito, is it ever getting easier or is it always just as tough as it was the first time?" to which the dancing pro replied: "It's always like the first time, but of course I like the way like how she's reacting. Since the first moment she acted good, very good - very calm, like you know 'okay we have to do this again.'

"We are positive, she is very positive, but you don't get used to it you know? Being in that dance-off. When that red light comes on you, you are like 'ugh okay.'

"I said 'okay, let's do this again - the Rumba - you have the possibility to breathe.'"

Janette then turned to Fleur, saying: "You said that you expected to be in the dance-off this time. Why is that Fleur? Why did you expect to be there?"

To which, Fleur replied: "Well just because there are so few of us now and when you watch everybody, we cheer everybody on don't we? And we watch them and we're like 'oh my gosh he's smashed it, she's smashed it, they're all killing it.'

"So it's like, to be standing there you just think 'well it's got to be one of us hasn't it?' so yeah I wasn't surprised for that reason."
