Steelers 7-round mock draft update – Super Bowl edition

It’s Super Bowl week and unfortunately, the Pittsburgh Steelers will be sitting and watching it just like all of us. But with the Senior Bowl done we decided it was time to update our full seven-round 2024 mock draft accounting for the big performances by some of the Steelers top prospects.

First round - C Jackson Powers-Johnson, Oregon

Steven Bisig-USA TODAY Sports

Upgrading center has to be a top priority for the Steelers and there isn’t a better center in this draft than Jackson Powers-Johnson.

Second round - DT T'Vondre Sweat, Texas

The Steelers haven’t had a player like T’Vondre Sweat since another former Texas Longhorn named Casey Hampton was on the team. Sweat is a massive nose tackle who plays with surprising quickness and elite power.

Third round - CB Renardo Green, Florida State

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Green is a physical man corner prospect who thrives off of competition and shows great footwork and hips.

Fourth round - WR Malik Washington, Virginia

Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Malik Washington had a huge Senior Bowl week and might not last until the fourth round but if he does, he’s a perfect slot receiver option for Pittsburgh.

Fourth round - LB JD Bertrand, Notre Dame

Jim Dedmon-USA TODAY Sports

Smart, high-motor linebacker who plays every play at full speed. He does his best work from tackle to tackle, chasing and pursuing run support but is also a great interior pass rusher and blitzer.

Sixth round - QB Sam Hartman, Notre Dame

Hartman is well-traveled but the film shows he can make all the throws, shows nice accuracy and throws a great deep ball. Hartman is also athletic and does his best work on the move.

Seventh round - S Josh Proctor, Ohio State

Josh Proctor finds himself lower in the draft because we don’t expect him to test well and his coverage skills need a lot of work. But as a downhill run stuffer he’s got a lot of Mike Mitchell in his game.
