SSPCA investigate after body of dead dog found in burn next to a golf course

A dead dog has been found in a burn near a Scots golf course.

The one year old dog was found at Canmore Golf Club in Dunfermline on Sunday, April 10.

According to the Daily Record, the dog was discovered wearing a collar with a lead and dog poo back still attached.

The English bulldog was found in the burn covered in thick mud.

The Scottish Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) has launched an investigation into the death and is keen to learn how the young canine passed away.

The charity has been able to trace the breeder through a microchip, but cannot find the animal's owner.

Anybody who recognises the dog or anybody who may have information is urged to contact the SPCA, where anonymity can be maintained.

Robyn Gray, SPCA inspector, said: “The dog is female and approximately one year old. She was wearing a leather collar and lead with a poo bag holder attached.

“The dog is microchipped but unfortunately the details on the chip were registered to a veterinary practice in Edinburgh. We were able to trace the breeder through these details but sadly not her owner.

“We’re keen to find out how she passed away and came to be in this location.

"We’d also like to trace her owner so we can inform them of what’s happened to their dog if they are unaware that she’s passed away.

“If anyone recognises this dog or has any information on this incident they can contact our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.”
