Serena Williams displayed her dominance to brush aside Elina Svitolina in straight sets and reach the US Open final.
The 37-year-old was in sensational form, recovering from an early scare to blow away the fifth seed 6-3, 6-2 in an hour and 11 minutes on court.
Williams, who lost in the final to Naomi Osaka here last year, will have the chance to win her 24th Grand Slam title which would equal Margaret Court's record haul.
She will face Bianca Andreescu or Belinda Bencic in Saturday's final but with this performance, few can match her.
The Ukrainian had not yet dropped a set going into this match and many believed she had played her best tennis of her career at Flushing Meadows.
Playing against an opponent with such an aggressive and powerful style was always going to be difficult, given Svitolina's focus on defensive play.
She started well, testing Williams on her serve with three break points, but failed to take advantage.
Williams was certainly boosted from that and recovered from 40-0 down on Svitolina's serve to take an early break. Just two games down and there had already been 15 minutes of competitive play.
But Williams began to go through the gears, serving phenomenally by winning 19 of her 23 first serve points and sealed the first 6-3.
Svitolina's tactics, seeing her deployed several metres behind the baseline, began to work against her as Williams fired her groundstrokes inside the service box.
Not only was she serving impeccably, she was dictating the rallies and showing her incredible all-round game.
Svitolina was showing her frustration on court and lashed a forehand wide to hand a double break again to Williams in the second set.
And she finished off with six games in a row to send a clear message that she ready to take that 24th Grand Slam title, no matter who stands in her way.
