Scotland confirm friendlies against Netherlands and Northern Ireland

Scotland have announced they will face the Netherlands and Northern Ireland in friendly matches in March of next year.

The fixtures will make up part of Steve Clarke's side's preparations for Euro 2024.

Scotland will first travel to the Netherlands to take on the 1988 European Champions in a 7.45pm kick-off on Friday, March 22, with the venue to be confirmed by the hosts in the near future.

Then Hampden will host the game against Michael O'Neill's side on Tuesday, March 26 at 7.45pm.

Ticket information for both games will be confirmed in the near future.

Clarke previously insisted Scotland will not be overawed by the occasion when they open Euro 2024 against Germany.

They will also play Switzerland and Hungary as they contest Group A at the tournament.

And while Clarke is looking forward to the occasion, he maintains that his team are not there to simply make up the numbers.

Speaking to BBC Sport, he said: "You know what you are up against and it is good to be in that first game.

"For us, we need to make sure it is not about the occasion and about the match and we look forward to it.

"It did not matter who we got as it was always going to be exciting for us.

"The aim is to be competitive in every match and respect every opponent. I was actually thinking I was quite hungry as the draw happened!"
