Amid escalating tensions, Russia launched a series of missile attacks against Ukraine overnight, targeting the country's energy infrastructure. Ukrainian air defenses successfully intercepted 21 out of the 34 missiles launched by Russia.

Energy facilities in Dnipropetrovsk, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Lviv were among the locations attacked, resulting in damage to four thermal power plants operated by DTEK. An engineer was injured during the attacks, and casualties were reported at the power plants.

Ukraine has sought additional air defense systems from Western allies to protect against such assaults. The United States has pledged to provide Ukraine with additional munitions and equipment for its air defense launchers.

In a separate incident, a psychiatric hospital in Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city, sustained damage from a missile strike, resulting in one person being wounded. Photos from the scene showed significant damage to the hospital grounds, with patients seeking shelter in corridors.

On the Russian side, air defense systems intercepted 66 drones over the Krasnodar region and two more over Crimea. Ukrainian forces reportedly targeted an oil refinery and infrastructure facilities in the Krasnodar region, causing a fire at the Slavyansk oil refinery.

While Ukrainian officials typically refrain from commenting on attacks on Russian soil, the Ukrainian Energy Ministry confirmed that two oil refineries in the Krasnodar region were hit by drones.
