Robert F. Kennedy Jr Supports Free Speech, Questions Gaza Ceasefire

Rally demanding ceasefire in Gaza, in Tel Aviv

Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. shared his thoughts on pro-Palestinian protests and the situation in Gaza during a campaign rally in Holbrook, New York. Kennedy expressed his support for free speech, emphasizing the importance of allowing individuals to voice their concerns, even if their views may be disagreeable to others.

While acknowledging his pro-Palestinian stance, Kennedy stated that he did not understand the rationale behind calls for a ceasefire in Gaza. He highlighted his belief that past ceasefires had been exploited by Hamas to rearm and launch surprise attacks on Israel, casting doubt on the effectiveness of negotiations in the region.

The ongoing conflict in Gaza has resulted in a significant loss of life, with more than 34,000 Palestinians reported killed since the war began, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.

In addition to discussing the situation in Gaza, Kennedy addressed the issue of antisemitic threats against Jewish students on college campuses. He condemned such threats as unacceptable and called on universities to take measures to protect Jewish students, emphasizing the need for equal treatment and support for all students, regardless of their background.

Kennedy's remarks underscore the complex and sensitive nature of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the challenges of promoting dialogue and understanding in the midst of ongoing violence and tensions.
