Polish Aid Worker Killed In Gaza During Humanitarian Mission

A ship carrying aid sails off the shore of Gaza, as seen from central Gaza Strip

Poland's foreign ministry confirmed the tragic death of a Polish national, Damian Soból, who was volunteering with the non-profit organization World Central Kitchen in Gaza. The ministry expressed its deepest condolences to Soból's family and condemned the lack of compliance with international humanitarian law and the protection of civilians, including aid workers.

Soból, hailing from the town of Przemysl in Poland, was among seven aid workers killed in an Israeli military strike while distributing food to civilians in Gaza. The victims included individuals from the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, and a Palestinian national.

Poland's Foreign Minister, Radoslaw Sikorski, has personally sought urgent explanations from the Israeli Ambassador to Poland and initiated an investigation into the incident. The Israel Defense Forces have stated that they are conducting a thorough review of the tragedy.

This unfortunate event highlights the risks faced by humanitarian workers in conflict zones and underscores the importance of upholding international humanitarian law to protect civilians and aid providers.
