New York Women in Film & Television recently held its 44th annual Muse Awards in New York City, where over 700 guests gathered at Cipriani 42nd Street to honor notable figures in the entertainment industry. The event celebrated the achievements of distinguished individuals such as Fran Drescher, Alex Borstein, Kyra Sedgwick, Tantoo Cardinal, Latasha Gillespie, Millicent Simmonds, Michèle Stephenson, and Oscar-winner Raney Aronson-Rath.

One of the highlights of the evening was SAG-AFTRA executive vice president Linda Powell accepting an award on behalf of Fran Drescher, who was unable to attend due to a recent family tragedy. Powell shared a statement from Drescher, highlighting the challenges faced during the historic Hollywood strikes and emphasizing the importance of standing up against misogyny and gender expectations in the industry.

Another honoree, Millicent Simmonds, who is deaf and known for her role in 'A Quiet Place,' spoke about the positive changes she has witnessed in Hollywood regarding accessibility and inclusion. She expressed gratitude for the industry's shift towards more compassion and open-mindedness.

Award recipient Alex Borstein, known for her role in 'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,' emphasized the importance of self-inspiration and empowerment in addition to seeking external sources of motivation.

The honorees' speeches reflected a shared commitment to challenging traditional norms and advocating for a more equitable and inclusive future for all individuals in the performing arts.
