Newcastle United transfer rumours as Tierney alternative emerges and Magpies 'track' French star

A look at the latest Newcastle United transfer rumours on Wednesday, 12 July.

Magpies eye Wolves defender as Kieran Tierney alternative

Football Insider claims Newcastle have placed Wolves defender Hugo Bueno on their transfer wish list as a potential alternative to Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney. The Scotland international is still said to be the Magpies' number one target at left-back, but have a number of options in reserve.

The Gunners are yet to resolve Tierney's future at the club with Celtic also said to be keen on a move to the defender. Bueno made 21 appearances for Wolves last season and registered one assist in that time.

The Wolves defender came through the academy set-up at Molineux having signed from CD Areosa in 2019. The youngster made his debut against Nottingham Forest in October last season.

Newcastle interested in rising French star

Reports in France claim Newcastle United are among the Premier League clubs interested in signing Rayan Cherki of Lyon.

The 19-year-old is considered one of the best upcoming talents in France and has recently been linked with a move to Chelsea, following former teammate Malo Gusto. Cherki had a number of impressive moments under Laurent Blanc last season, finally living up to the hype.

The report claims Lyon will have to face 'attacks' from clubs head on in terms of interest in players this summer, with PSG also linked with Bradley Barcola and Al Shabab for Alexandre Lacazette.
