New timeline and photos of Las Vegas Strip's future MLB stadium

The Oakland Athletics' move to Las Vegas is not yet official, but the city is already taking huge steps to prepare for its likely move.

The timeline of the construction of the Oakland Athletics' ballpark has been set, with construction scheduled for April 2025 and a completion date in January 2028. This tentative timeline was presented by the A's ballpark construction manager Mortenson-McCarthy and was first reported by the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

The stadium was first announced in May and will be placed on at least 9-acres of the 35-acre Tropicana property on the Las Vegas Strip. The ballpark is set to house 30,000 fans and have a retractable roof at a cost of a around $1.5 billion.

The Athletics' move from Oakland to Las Vegas is still awaiting the approval of Major League Baseball owners who are expected to vote on the move during their owners meeting in Texas this November.

The team has been in the doldrums in terms of fan attendance in Oakland. But many fans have turned on the Athletics' ownership, calling for owner John Fisher to sell the franchise.

Instead, it's looking as if Fisher will be sharing Sin City with Las Vegas Raiders and Aces owner Mark Davis. The two have a strained relationship after their franchises were co-tenants of the Coliseum in the Bay Area.

Las Vegas has become the new destination for sports with the NFL's Raiders, NHL's Golden Knights, and WNBA's Aces up and running and the Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix set for next month.

The NBA is also expected to target Las Vegas if it decides to expands its roster of teams.
