New Bridgerton Season 3 sneak peek leaves fans swooning

There's no longer a need to crane your head around in search for the diamond of the season.

Quite frankly, it probably doesn't matter who Queen Charlotte has bestowed that honour to, when wallflower Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and world-traveller Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) are already placed front and centre of Bridgerton's third season.

Ahead of the series release, which comes in May, Netflix has released a sneak peek of the pair which has left fans swooning. In the clip, Colin and Penelope are stood in a drawing room gazing each other, as Penelope says: "Your eyes are the most remarkable shade of blue.

"And yet somehow they shine even brighter when you are kind," she adds.

She continues, "I might say something like that… if you were a suitor" as Colin nervously downs a drink he finds beside him.

He mumbles in agreement and says "Well, that was uh, rather direct."

Their brief encounter is interrupted by distant chatter as the clip ends. But Netflix has teased its viewers with enough of the upcoming show to cause a social media frenzy. One person wrote: "I can't calm down when they've just released us this tease!! ahhhh!!!!"

Another said: "I'm mad at the person who walked in and interrupted this beautiful moment.""The writer is Pen definitely came out in that moment," a third added, addressing her secret role in the show as London's most notorious yet beloved feeder of gossip, Lady Whistledown.

But mention of Penelope's secret pseudonym has raised the question of when Lady Whistledown will return to screens with the next installment of Mayfair's most enthralling scandals.

So when will Season 3 be released?

Fortunately for fans, the arrival of Bridgerton's eight past series for Season 3 is fast-approaching. Part 1 is to be released exclusively on Netflix's streaming platform on May 16 in the UK.

Meanwhile, the latter part of the series will land on the platform for summer, with episodes 5 through to 8 becoming available from June 13.

Whilst perhaps, that is admittedly too long a wait for some, Netflix has done well to keep fans on their toes with the sneak peek along with photos it released during the Christmas period, depicting this season's leading couple, and the Bridgerton family.
