Nate Diaz offered fight in attempt to help 'free' star from UFC contract

UFC welterweight Kevin Holland has offered to fight Nate Diaz to help 'free' him from his UFC contract.

Diaz has yet to find an opponent for his final contracted fight in the UFC despite publicly agreeing to face the likes of Dustin Poirier and Khamzat Chimaev. The 37-year-old made an emotional plea to be released from his contract earlier this week, which has seen the likes of YouTube star Jake Paul join a '#FreeNateDiaz' campaign on social media.

Several fighters have offered to fight Diaz in his final outing including contenders Vicente Luque and Paul. UFC star Holland has now made the latest play to face the veteran on social media, tweeting: "Help me help you Nate Diaz." The tweet came with an image of a prisoner with Diaz's face on in jail, with Holland acting as the guard to help him escape alongside the infamous hashtag #FreeNateDiaz.

Holland had already spoken about the opportunity of meeting Diaz as he looks to continue his undefeated streak since making the switch to 170lb. He previously tweeted: "I’ll take anyone. He’ll take anyone. Nate Diaz let’s do this for everyone! Dana White, I think this moves the needle! I want all the smoke both inside and outside the cage."

A fight has yet to be negotiated for Diaz with UFC president White giving the green light for him to pursue any boxing meeting with Paul outside of the promotion. However he will need to first be released from his contract or make his final walk to the octagon before any alternative plan can be put in place.

Paul recently offered to step in the octagon and make his debut against Diaz for free providing White conducts a review on UFC fighter pay. However it was left on deaf ears with Diaz continuing to be left without an opponent.

Despite being unable to find a final rival, Diaz claimed in a frustrated rant that he has offered to fight a whole host of leading names including Tony Ferguson and Chimaev. “They haven’t offered me anybody," Diaz revealed on the MMA Hour when asked about his future.

"I’ve been asking for fights since whenever, I asked for a lot of fights. I asked for [Vicente] Luque, I asked for Tony Ferguson, I asked for like four or five people. It was never good on their side. They finally offered me Khamzat [Chimaev], I gave a little ‘what the f***?’, but then I thought why not? Let’s get it done with.

"I asked for the Khamzat fight. Then, all sorts of excuses started happening. I wanted January, I wanted March, I wanted all these things… I’m trying to get this show on the road, but they’re keeping me in my contract and they’re holding me hostage. I want out, that’s my main objective is.”
