Met police officer cleared of rape following trial

A Metropolitan Police officer has been cleared of rape following a trial.

Callum Utley, 25, attached to the West Area Command Unit, was on trial at Amersham Crown Court accused of one count of rape over an off-duty incident in Buckinghamshire in 2019.

He was found not guilty by the jury on Thursday, following a four-day trial.

Utley was charged by Thames Valley Police via postal requisition in May 2023, and was suspended from duty.

The Metropolitan Police said he remains suspended from duty and the Directorate of Professional Standards would now consider misconduct proceedings.
