Manor Solomon opens up on 'dream' Tottenham transfer and gives Ange Postecoglou insight

Manor Solomon has described his move to Tottenham Hotspur as a "dream come true".

The winger was signed on a free transfer from Shakhtar Donetsk and becomes the club's fifth signing of the summer so far. Solomon will have a chance to come up against his former side in the near future, though, with Spurs set to host Shakhtar in a friendly on August 6.

The Israel international arrived in England last summer, where he impressed during his loan spell at Fulham. However, the 23-year-old is delighted to have sealed his switch to Spurs and is looking forward to working under new boss Ange Postecoglou.

“I’m really excited to be here, to come to a big club like Tottenham. It’s a dream come true for me and I can't wait to get started,” he told the club website .

“I think every player dreams to play for a club like Tottenham. After I spoke with the manager, I understood what he wants and demands from the team, what he wants to build here. I know he wants to see attacking football, to see pressure, to have the ball and play football that will entertain the fans and bring points. I think they will be more than happy to watch the team that they love.”

Having grown up in Kfar Saba, Solomon made his senior debut for Maccabi Petah Tikva, aged 17, before taking the decision to sign for Shakhtar in January 2019. His time in Ukraine brought three league titles, as well as a Ukrainian Cup and Super Cup, but he admitted it was a bold step to leave his family at such a young age.

“To leave my parents and family to go to a different country with different weather at the age of 19, it was difficult for me, but I really wanted it as I wanted to improve my football,” Solomon said. ”I knew that I could fulfil my dream, achieve more, and in the end to get to Europe and the Premier League.

“I’m so happy that I’ve been able to fulfil my dream and I hope to keep fulfilling it and keep achieving more. I don’t want to stop there. I’m really really happy to be here.”

Solomon is the second Israeli player to represent Spurs after Ronny Rosenthal, who the winger explained is still a huge name in his country. The forward captured attention with a five-game goal streak for Fulham last season and gave Spurs fans an insight on what they can expect to see from him.

“I like to dribble. I like to entertain the fans. I like to help the team as much as I can with goals and assists,” he explained. “I hope to show (the best of) myself as much as I can this season and I can’t wait for the season to start. I’m sure the fans will be proud of us.

Solomon added: “If you told me this ten years ago, I don’t know if I would’ve believed that when I was 23 I would be playing for Tottenham. It’s something incredible that I’ve always dreamed of.”
