Love Island's Mitchel Taylor branded 'spitting image' of past Islander as fans baffled

Love Island viewers are convinced Mitchel Taylor is the "spitting image" of a singleton from a past series.

As the new series aired for the 2023 season, Mitchell Taylor was branded a dead ringer for fishmonger Luca Bish who appeared on the show last year and coupled up with Gemma Owen.

Joining the Love Island villa alongside five other guys, Mitchel from Sheffield was on the lookout for love with some of the Love Island girls.

Mitchel, a 26-year-old gas engineer, was immediately spotted by ITV2 viewers at home as a lookalike for former Love Island contestants including 2022's Luca.

On social media, one viewer called it as they tweeted: "Luca Bish is Mitchel’s long lost twin."

Another added: "Can someone make sure Mitchel isn’t Luca in disguise #LoveIsland".

"Is Mitchel a Luca Bish lookalike?" asked a third.

However some thought Mitchel bore a stronger resemblance to 2019 Love Island winner Jack Fincham.

One viewer couldn't decide between the two as they commented: "Man this looks like Luca and Jack Fincham if they had a kid."

The first episode of the new series saw Maya Jama drop the shocking twist that Love Islanders wouldn't get to choose who they couple with, but instead have their romantic futures decided by the public.

The public had already cast their votes and chose who they wanted to see partnered, with Mitchel coupled up with blonde beauty Molly Marsh.

Whilst some couples might already be showing signs they don't belong together it appears Mitchel and Molly have hit it off already. Mitchel already spoke out about his feelings for Molly as he said he didn't think his head would turn from the actress.

However it's not Love Island without a few dramas and viewers could foresee some tension on the horizon as the end of the programme saw the arrival of a bombshell with South London hunk Zachariah Noble.

In just 24 hours Zachariah can couple up with one of the Love Island villa's ladies and leave one lad vulnerable and heading home before the season has even begun.

Love Island airs all this week at 9PM on ITV2 and ITVX.
