Liverpool transfer rumours: Jurrien Timber drops big hint over future as Reds flop plots return

Ajax defender Jurrien Timber has refused to rule out a switch away from the Eredivisie outfit amid ongoing links to Liverpool and rivals Manchester United.

Having missed out on Champions League qualification, Jurgen Klopp and his Anfield recruitment team have already made their first move this summer. Alexis Mac Allister became their first new signing on Thursday afternoon and the Reds will follow that up with more high-profile recruits.

Timber has been mooted in that regard. Speculation around his future has, once again, returned to the fore before market reopens. Liverpool and United are among potential suitors from the Premier League - as Barcelona also find themselves in the race.

Currently away on international duty, the 21-year-old starlet was pressed on proposed interest during his interview with Dutch publication Vandaag Inside. He said: "I'm not in talks with Ajax right now.

"I spoke briefly to [Sven] Mislintat in the beginning. My agent had a good talk with him a few times, but it's not like we're talking about anything right now.

"Will I stay with Ajax anyway? I'm not sure."

Elsewhere, reports from The Daily Mail indicate former Liverpool player Arthur Melo wants to "have another crack" at the Premier League following his unsuccessful loan spell at Anfield last season. Arthur, 26, only made one cameo appearance for the Reds early during their Champions League campaign.

Arthur still has two years to run on his Juventus contract. However, as per the article, the Brazilian could be moved on permanently if interested parties come to the fore.

Renowned journalist Rudy Galetti, meanwhile, suggests Liverpool are primed and ready to "firm up" their interest in Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga shortly. Veiga, 21, has earned rave reviews for his displays for the Spanish club and is understood to have a release clause around the €40m mark.

Veiga also, reportedly, has Chelsea, Napoli, treble-winners Manchester City and Real Madrid chasing him. The player made 36 appearances in La Liga last season.
