Leeds United news as in-demand starlet 'set for medical' on Wednesday

Here are today's evening Leeds United headlines on Tuesday, July 11.

Lewis Pirie 'set for Wednesday medical' at Leeds United

Leeds United have reportedly booked in highly-rated Aberdeen prospect Lewis Pirie for a Thorp Arch medical on Wednesday.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the club are closing in on sealing a deal for the 16-year-old, who has attracted interest from the likes of Celtic, Crystal Palace and Sheffield United, among others, in recent weeks.

Pirie, who netted 51 goals for club and country youth teams last term, is set to head to Leeds in a deal worth up to £200,000 after the club agreed a deal with Aberdeen last week. Romano adds that the youngster will sign up until June 2026.

Leeds are yet to sign any new players this summer, with relegation, the hiring of a new manager and the ongoing protracted 49ers Enterprise takeover all holding up proceedings in the summer transfer market.

Andrea Radrizzani takes Leeds United credit in six-word social media message

Andrea Radrizzani appears to have taken credit for helping to design Leeds United’s new home kit. The Italian is currently in the process of selling Leeds to 49ers Enterprises after striking a deal with the American consortium earlier in the summer.

The deal is still awaiting approval from the EFL, but once the green light has been received Radrizzani will be able to permanently hand over the keys to Elland Road and draw a line under his six-year stint as the club’s chairman. The Italian has found a new club, with his focus being on Sampdoria over the last few months while the sale of Leeds progresses.

But, while he is hard at work trying to turn the fortunes of the recently Serie A club around, it seems as though he’s still keeping tabs on proceedings in West Yorkshire. On Tuesday morning, the Whites unveiled their new home strip which they will wear in the Championship this season.

Kalvin Phillips 'devastated' by Leeds United relegation as he reveals Whites rallying calls

Kalvin Phillips says he was 'devasted' to see his old club Leeds United relegated last season and is backing them to make an immediate return to the Premier League. The England midfielder came through the ranks at his hometown club and established himself as a key player for Leeds before joining Manchester City last summer in a deal that could be worth up to £45m.

His first year at the Etihad was marred by a series of injuries, but it still turned out to be a memorable campaign as City won the coveted Treble - the Champions League, the Premier League, and FA Cup. But there was sadness for Phillips on the final day of the Premier League season as news filtered through that his boyhood team Leeds had been relegated, with Everton's win against Bournemouth condemning both the Whites and Leicester City to the drop.

"I was devastated," said Phillips of Leeds' relegation, in an interview with the BBC to promote his forthcoming Amazon Prime documentary Kalvin Phillips: The Road to City. "I knew, obviously, it was going down to the wire and I was very nervous for them.
