Las Vegas Strip casino brings back superstar magician residency

The Las Vegas Strip has a reputation for hosting the biggest names in entertainment for individual performances, limited engagements and longer residencies.

One of the biggest residencies on the Strip is Lady Gaga's Jazz & Piano at Dolby Live at Park MGM Las Vegas, which continues June 19, 20, 27, 29, 30, July 3, 5 and 6. Tickets are still available for all shows and a review of the Ticketmaster site showed ticket prices ranging from about $170 to $2,300 per ticket.

Another huge residency on the Strip is Adele's Weekends With Adele residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace which has 20 more weekend shows scheduled. The 10 weekend shows scheduled from May 17 to June 15 are completely sold out. Adele rescheduled 10 other shows that were postponed in March to five weekends from Oct. 25 through Nov. 23.

The 10 rescheduled shows were originally sold out and are expected to be sold out again. However, a search for tickets for the 10 rescheduled shows on the Ticketmaster site reveal a message, "On sale date and time are in the works – please check back!"

Aside from musical acts, magician and illusionist shows have also been extremely popular on and off the Strip.

David Copperfield has become a Las Vegas Strip icon since starting out in the 1980s with his 15-year residency at Caesars Entertainment's  (CZR)  Caesars Palace before signing on with MGM Resorts International's  (MGM)  MGM Grand Hotel and Casino, where he still performs today.

Penn & Teller's magic, illusion and comedy act is the longest running show in Las Vegas as it arrived on the Strip 30 years ago before switching over to the off-Strip Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in 2001. The classic Vegas duo will be around for a while as they have extended their popular residency until 2026.

World-renowned magician David Blaine debuted his "In Spades" Las Vegas Strip residency on Sept. 30, 2022, to sell-out crowds at the Resorts World Theater at Resorts World Las Vegas and extended the engagement to July 2023.

Blaine cancelled some of the shows in his residency after suffering a dislocated shoulder performing one of his stunts on March 12, 2023. The magician and illusionist injured himself during an 80-foot free fall in the opening of his act where he lands in a stack of cardboard moving boxes near the left side of the stage.

More Las Vegas:

Blaine missed his mark and landed awkwardly, dislocating his right shoulder. Doctors sitting in the audience came to his aid on the stage to put his shoulder back into place. Blaine removed the stunt from his act while he recovered, and said he was trying to insure his act so he could bring it back to his show.

The magician was set to finish his residency in July 2023, but had to cancel his final two shows July 14-15 because he was having problems with his shoulder.

Blaine changed venues and brought his new residency, "Impossible," to the Las Vegas Strip's Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas beginning New Year's Eve weekend 2023 and continuing in February, March and May 2024.

By popular demand, Blaine has extended his sold-out "Impossible" residency at the Encore Theater by six more shows on Aug. 21, 23, 24, Dec. 29, 30 and 31. Blaine will perform two previously scheduled shows May 10 and 11 at the Encore.

AEG and American Express Early Access presales are underway until May 9, 10 p.m. Pacific time. Tickets go on sale to the general public at Ticketmaster.com on May 10 at 10 a.m. Pacific.
