Kym Marsh says 'forgive us' during break from theatre role and hits red carpet with lookalike daughter

Kym Marsh dazzled as she proudly took to the MEN Pride of Manchester Awards 2023 red carpet with her family. The long-standing supporter and host of the annual awards night took a break from her new theatre role to preside over proceedings at the Kimpton Clocktower Hotel on Wednesday night (May 10).

The singer and actress, who is starring in Greatest Days - The Take That Musical, said ahead of the awards on the red carpet: "I'm so excited. It's just a wonderful night. I love coming here and celebrating the people of Manchester. It's going to be a great."

Kym looked stunning in a plunging, off-the-shoulder black gown while she wore her silky dark locks in a classy updo. And she was beaming as she posed for the camera alongside her daughter Emilie, who she is starring in alongside in Greatest Days, Emilie's fiancé Mikey Hoszowskyj and son David before they celebrated Greater Manchester's unsung heroes.

And for Kym, who played Corrie's Michelle Connor, there was an extra special reason to be proud this year as her singer daughter Emilie 25, performed at the awards. On the red carpet, she said: "It's always a great night."

But while it's inspirational and joyful, things also get emotional. "I always struggle to hold it together," host Kym said. "But that is my job as the host. You don't want me crying all over the place but it is quite difficult. There are so many amazing people and so many inspiring people. It really is just a night to celebrate the people of Manchester and the great things they do."

As mentioned, Kym and Emilie, who are often told by fans they could pass for being sisters, are currently starring together in the Take That musical Greatest Days. They are both playing the same character on stage of Rachel seen at first as a teenager then later in her 40s.

"We're in preview week so we were expecting a few little wobbles but both shows [so far] have gone well," Emilie said before Kym interjected to say: "We're not on tonight because we're here. So sorry to everybody who went to watch us tonight. But we're here, I'm sure you'll forgive us for that."

She added: "But it has been going really well. We're having such a laugh. It really is such a fun show and we feel very privileged to be a part of it and to be doing it together." And Kym couldn't hide her pride for her daughter. "Honestly, I can't tell you. Every night I'm watching [Emilie] from the wings which is such a mum thing to do."
