Kim Kardashian 'not worthy' of wearing Marilyn Monroe gown to Met Gala, experts fume

Marilyn Monroe experts have insisted that Kim Kardashian 'wasn't worthy' of wearing the iconic star's gown to the 2022 Met Gala.

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star, 41, wore the infamous outfit wore by the actress 60 years ago to sing happy birthday to then-president John F Kennedy on his 45th birthday.

The reality TV star admitted that she lost 16 lbs in just under three weeks in preparation for the star-studded event.

"It was like preparing for a role," she told Vogue.

She also revealed that the Ripley’s team 'didn’t believe' she could loose so much weight in such a short amount of time, but the 'challenge' made her even more committed.

The reality TV star even went as far as bleaching her dark locks for the special occasion.

And although she made headlines after squeezing into Marilyn's iconic gown, experts are not convinced that Kim deserved to wear the gold frock to the Met Gala.

Marilyn Monroe expert, Michelle Morgan, has slammed curators at the Ripley's Believe It Or Not! museum, where the dress was being kept, for allowing Kim to don the frock.

"I am extremely disappointed to see this 60-year-old, iconic dress being worn in public," the author told The New York Post.

"The gown is extremely fragile and has been previously kept in temperature-controlled conditions, but now here it is, not only being worn, but also in a red carpet environment, where anything could have happened to it."

The expert added that 'sweat, perfume and makeup' could have come into contact with the dress and caused 'untold damage and staining'.

And former head of the Met’s Costume Institute Sarah Scaturro blasted Kim for even asking to wear the iconic dress.

"I’m frustrated because it sets back what is considered professional treatment for historic costume,” she told the LA Times.

"In the ‘80s, a bunch of costume professionals came together to state a resolution that historic costume should not be worn.

"So my worry is that colleagues in historic costume collections are now going to be pressured by important people to let them wear garments."

A representative for Ripley’s has confirmed that there was 'no damage' to the dress after Kim's red carpet appearance.
