John Henry offered help over Liverpool signings in cheeky transfer message

Swedish buy now, pay later service Klarna and its CEO had some cheeky messages for Liverpool owner John Henry in order to help push through a deal for Dominik Szoboszlai.

Since yesterday, the Hungarian's name has been circulating as it was revealed the club had met with the player's representatives EM Sports Management, leading to speculation surrounding the nature of the deal given conflicting messages about his £60million release clause.

Supporters have expressed mixed feelings about Liverpool's eagerness to reach for the cheque book compared to their rivals in recent seasons, with the club's owners opting to operate on a basis of reinvesting revenue back into the club as opposed to frivolous spending.

However, with desperation added into the mix after a disappointing fifth-placed finish last season and rivals showing no signs of slowing down in the transfer market, Henry's hand may be forced to change his way of thinking. To help do so, he was sent a light-hearted message on Twitter by Klarna.

Replying to The Athletic's David Ornstein's initial post on the Szoboszlai situation, the official Klarna account tagged in Henry and said: "You know you can DM us, right?"

This rapidly took off on social media, with many seeing the fun side of RB Leipzig basically being handed an 'I owe you' instead of cash up front for their promising midfielder.

The company's CEO and co-founder, Sebastian Siemiatkowski, even weighed in on the debate from his personal Twitter profile.

Trying to push home the offer, he jokingly added: "My schedule can be shuffled for a chat if you want to," tagging the Liverpool owner again and also club's official account.
