Good Morning Britain's Gordon Smart embarrassed by co-host Charlotte Hawkins as debut causes stir

Gordon Smart made quite an impression on his Good Morning Britain debut on Thursday and Charlotte Hawkins wasted no time in embarrassing him with some of the messages that had flooded in about him.

Entertainment journalist and Radio X presenter Gordon was confirmed as a new host for the ITV breakfast show earlier this week and was behind the desk to join ex Strictly star Charlotte for his first shift bright and early as the show kicked off at 6am. And it didn't take long for viewers to have their say on GMB's new face.

It took just moments for comments to come in and the live show wasn't 20 minutes old when Charlotte seized the opportunity to share some of them with Gordon.. Reading one out, Charlotte told him: "Sue says...nice to see a new presenter, Gordon Smart is rather easy on the eye," as he quipped: "My family have many aliases.

Reading another one out, she continued: "Susan; is that one of yours as well? 'Well done GMB, good old Scottish eye candy, with a Christmas Buble vibe." The latter remark left Gordon gobsmacked, as he admitted he'd never been compared to a certain Canadian crooner before.

Charlotte then revealed that Gordon's local butchers, Kinross based Hunters had also been in touch, with a message that read: 'Wish you all the best,' and they reckon it'll be whisky all round," to which Gordon replied: "Well, they never miss an opportunity!"

A video of Charlotte reading the messages to Gordon was shared on Good Morning Britain's Twitter, with the post prompting more to come in. One responded: "Good hunky looks aside, he's definitely doing a great job, let's make him a permanent presenter," with another writing: "Gordon is a great new addition! Love to see more of him."
