Gogglebox sees 10-year anniversary shake-up with major stars returning to C4 show

Gogglebox has revealed exciting plans for its 10-year anniversary on Channel 4 - celebrating the major milestone with a brilliant bumper instalment.

The series initially debuted on screens back in March 2013 - running consecutively for 21 seasons and returning to UK screens Friday evening.

And to celebrate the decade-long run with C4, Gogglebox is set to air a 90-minute special with stars both past and present.

The Mirror reports however, in a move that may surprise fans - the Gogglebox anniversary episode will not air in the show's usual Friday night slot but on a Saturday – March 11 to be specific. The bumper episode will feature the show's infamous hoteliers Steph and Dom Parker as well as Sandra Martin and Sandi Bogle – all of whom left the show to move on to other projects.

There are only two sets of stars who appeared in the first episode and are still on screen today: Stephen Webb, who shared the sofa with a number of partners, most recently his husband Daniel Lustig, and the Siddiqui family. Their fellow current Gogglebox stars include Pete and Sophie Sandiford, Mary Killen and Giles Wood, as well as Jenny Newby and Lee Riley, who are fan favourite armchair critics with Channel 4 viewers.

Channel 4 has called the special 10th anniversary programme ‘a chance to look back at our favourite TV from the last decade and also our favourite Goggleboxers with whom we've watched it’. The show was originally narrated by Caroline Aherne, before Craig Cash took over the role following her death in 2016.

It comes after Gogglebox star Sandi Bogle previously hinted at her return to the show for its 10th anniversary. The 58-year-old Londoner was a big hit with fans as she waxed lyrical from her sofa with best pal Sandra Martin.

Sandi rocked up on the show when it started in 2013 before quitting in 2016 and previously speculated what fans could expect for the 10 year celebrations. She said: “I think they will do something special. That’s what the fans are crying out for. Of course I would want to be part of it. I’m one of the originals.”

Gogglebox airs at 9pm on Friday on Channel 4.
