Gogglebox Malone family heartbroken and as "beloved" dog Lucy dies

One of the nation's favourite Gogglebox families has shared some heartfelt news on social media - their family dog has died.

The Malone family pets have become regulars on the programme - they've had four Rottweilers during their time on the show, entertaining viewers alongside their human tv critics.

But now they've announced that family dog Lucy has died.

Sharing a picture of Tom Malone and Lucy on Instagram, the announcement read: "Today we said goodbye to our beloved Lucy, she fought right to the end to stay with us. Now reunited with her sister Izzey."

The heartfelt statement continued: "There are no words to describe how much you meant to us . Rest In Peace Sweetheart, you will always be in our hearts x"

Many of the Gogglebox couch critics have pets who occasionally pop up during the show. Stephen and Daniel have poodles, Dave and Shirley French Bulldogs and Izzi and Ellie have shown off dachshunds, whippets and most recently a Chihuahua.

The fellow Gogglebox stars were quick to respond to the family's post.

Izzi Warner wrote: "Rest in peace sweet girl. Thinking of you all xx"

Dave and Shirley, added: "Sorry to hear that Tom, love dave and shirley xx"

While Stephen Webb said: "Sorry to hear this! Sending hugs xx"

Tom Malone Jr, who gave up his place on the couch to peruse his career and now stars in E4's show The Real Dirty Dancing alongside a celebrity cast, replied to the message with "Rest in peace sweet girl Thinking of you all xx"

He went on to post his own Instagram message.

The post read simply: "Rest easy Lucy, you were a good girl."

Tom added a breaking heart Emoji followed by praying hands and paw symbols.

Followers were quick to share their sadness. One person said: "This is so sad , I am so sorry".

"Sending loads of love." And other wrote: "Immeasurable sadness"

Others joined in with "So, so, sorry", and "Sorry for your loss."

Another wrote: "Awww what a dog hope the fam are ok."

And others shared the heartbreak: "Know all too well how hard it is to loose a member of the family rip Lucy."

"Thinking of you all! Rotties are the most amazing breed and gentle giants l, rest in paradise Lucy," added another.
