Glasgow café Mayze announces shock closure of Dennistoun branch one year after opening

A popular coffee shop has announced the closure of its second branch just weeks after they closed their first shop.

Vegan coffee and brunch spot Mayze have this afternoon announced they will be closing their Dennistoun branch in what has been a "difficult decision" for the team.

It comes as they closed their shop in Finnieston last month, which was open for five years, after economic struggles took a toll on the mental health of staff.

The Sword Street branch, which had remained open, will also be following suit due to similar struggles.

Sharing the news on Instagram, the owner wrote: "After serious deliberation and careful reflection we have made the difficult decision to close our Dennistoun shop.

"If you saw our previous post about our Finnieston shop then the same reasons apply. We're sad that this is the route we have chosen but very grateful for everyone in Dennistoun who has supported us this past year.

"We'll still be keeping busy with events @somethingbrewed so hopefully you all again at some point soon."

The final opening day for Mayze, in Dennistoun, will be on Sunday, April 9 before it closes its doors for the foreseeable future.
