Former Trump Official Launches Initiative To Secure Southern Border

Donald Trump Former U.S. President Trump's civil fraud trial continues, in New York

A former Trump official running in one of this year's crucial battleground Senate races has launched a major initiative aimed at addressing the crisis at the southern border. Republican Nevada Senate candidate Jeff Gunter, a former U.S. ambassador to Iceland, unveiled his 'Build the Wall, Deport Them All' initiative to combat illegal immigration, which he believes is negatively impacting small businesses across the country.

Gunter plans to invest $1 million of his own money into the initiative, which will include the development of a website and reporting mechanism for citizens to report suspicious activity. The funds will also be used for an advertising campaign to raise awareness about the initiative in Nevada.

Gunter's initiative will involve collaborating with local businesses to identify illegal immigrants affecting their operations and reporting this information to the Department of Homeland Security for enforcement. Additionally, he aims to restart border wall construction, enhance surveillance, crack down on sanctuary cities, and end birthright citizenship if elected as a U.S. senator.

He also intends to reinstate policies such as 'Remain in Mexico' for asylum seekers and Title 42, which allows officials to turn away migrants at the border due to health concerns. Gunter views illegal immigrants as invaders and advocates for a robust deportation program to ensure national security.

His investment in the initiative follows his decision to allocate millions towards his Senate campaign, where he is competing against former U.S. Army Captain Sam Brown for the Republican nomination to challenge incumbent Democrat Senator Jacky Rosen in the upcoming election.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), supporting Brown, has criticized Gunter, labeling him as a recent California transplant and a Democrat aligned with Joe Biden's border policies. Gunter, on the other hand, emphasizes his commitment to securing the border and enforcing immigration laws to protect American interests.

As the Senate race in Nevada intensifies, Gunter's initiative and campaign strategies will continue to shape the discourse around immigration and national security in the state.
