Divers searching the wreckage of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore have recovered a fifth body. The victim, identified as Miguel Angel Luna Gonzalez, 49, of Glen Burnie, was found after salvage teams located a missing construction vehicle in the Patapsco River.
The Key Bridge Response Unified Command, along with multiple agencies including the Maryland State Police Department's underwater recovery team and the FBI, assisted in lifting the body from the water. This discovery comes weeks after the Sri Lanka-bound Dali container ship struck the Key Bridge on Mar. 26, causing it to collapse and resulting in the tragic deaths of six workers.
Colonel Roland L. Butler, Jr., the superintendent of the Maryland Department of State Police, expressed condolences to the families of the victims, emphasizing the dedication to ongoing recovery operations. He urged everyone to extend their deepest sympathies and support to the families during this difficult time.
Following the incident on Mar. 26, two workers were rescued from the water while six remained missing. Sadly, all missing individuals, except one, have now been recovered.
