Fashion Sakala boo boys slammed as Rangers star handed firm defence over 'selfish' Zambia jibes

Zambia fans have been told to accept Fashion Sakala for what he is, and stop booing him for being "selfish."

The Rangers forward put an emotional post on social media earlier this week claiming he was "brutally insulted" by supporters before their clash with Lesotho even kicked off. He hit out at "vicious insults and endless booing" during an international break where he scored one and assisted another to help his country pick up back-to-back wins. He also defended his tendency to dribble rather than pass, arguing that's what he's been trained to do and why he's made it to Europe.

Sakala has played some of his best football in Glasgow since Michael Beale returned to the club with six goals and seven assists since the World Cup break. And former Zambia defender Elijah Litana has come to his aid, citing Leicester striker Patson Daka - who struck twice in the second win over Lesotho - as one of the reasons the boo boys should know better.

Litana told Radio Icengelo Sports: “That style of play helps him to score goals. Let soccer fans allow Fashion Sakala to continue with his style of play. Booing him that he is selfish is not good.

“In Zambia we have a tendency of complaining. Look at Patson Daka, people criticised him but he scored two goals last Sunday and everyone is quiet."
