Edinburgh's Capital Sci-Fi Con is returning with Star Wars and Harry Potter actors

Sci-Fi fans across the capital can not only enjoy meeting some famous figures from TV and film when the Capital Sci-Fi Con returns to Edinburgh next month – they'll also be able to support Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS).

The popular annual event, which has raised an incredible £335,000 since 2016, will take place on February 11 and 12 at the O2 Academy (formerly the Corn Exchange), bringing together figures and fans from the world of film and television, comic book writers and artists, traders, and the best movie set props.

All profits from the convention will go directly to CHAS, Scotland’s national children’s hospice service which cares for babies, children and young people with life-shortening conditions.

Organised by the charity in partnership with a committee of dedicated Sci-Fi Con volunteers, the popular event hopes to attract thousands of visitors from all over Scotland and beyond and build on its previous fundraising success.

Confirmed special guests who will grace the capital’s O2 Academy (formerly the Corn Exchange) throughout the weekend include Star Wars stars Tina Simmons, Femi Taylor and Nick Joseph, voice actor Marc Silk, Marvel actor Clem So, Harry Potter star Brian Wheeler and stunt double to the stars, John Simpkin.

The Con’s loyal ambassadors James Mackenzie, Jimmy Vee and Angus MacInnes will also return for 2023 and more exciting guests are set to be announced in the coming weeks.

Photo props this year include a Ghostbusters Ecto-1, Harry Potter's Broom and Platform 9 ¾, a Game of Thrones Display, an ET Bike, a Stranger Things Demogorgan, a Back to the Future Prop Display, a Robot Wars Replica Display and working robots

Fun interactive attractions for guests include Make Mess Matter, a Nerf Shooting Gallery, a Sci-Fi Movie Costume Exhibition as well as entertainment from the Pop-Up Puppet Show and music from the Dunedin Wind Band who will open the event on the Saturday.

You can find out more about the event on the official website, with tickets available on eventbrite.

Community Fundraising Development Manager at CHAS, Laura Campbell, said: “It’s incredible to be back again for our eighth event and we’re overwhelmed at the support that we receive for this unique convention."
