Deion Sanders, Colorado Add Big-Time Quarterback Who Could Take Over for Shedeur

Colorado and first-year coach Deion Sanders landed their first blue-chip high school quarterback prospect on Friday after four-star, class of 2025 QB Antwann Hill Jr. announced his commitment to the program.

Hill, a junior at Houston County High School in Warner Robins, Ga., chose Sanders’s Buffaloes over Penn State, Florida, and Alabama after receiving 20-plus offers, according to On3. Clemson, Georgia and LSU were also among the other programs vying to land Hill.

Speaking to the recruiting website after his announcement, Hill shared his excitement about joining Sanders and Colorado while also curiously noting the program’s desire to see him “take over” whenever Sanders’s son, Buffaloes star QB Shedeur Sanders, moves on.

“What led me there is, first, their communication,” Hill said, per On3. “They always communicated with me since the time 12:00 am hit that morning on Aug 1st. To sum it up, I can tell they really care about me and want me to take over the program when Shedeur leaves. So whenever coach Prime said that, I knew he was being 100% honest with me and I knew I would be a fool not take this opportunity that coach Prime had provided me with.”

As Hill alluded to, Colorado has remained in close contact with him since first offering him in August. The rising standout quarterback’s decision was reportedly influenced by his recent, first visit to Boulder, where he was on-hand as Colorado fell to Stanford, 46–43, in a dramatic double-overtime thriller on Oct. 13.

A top-50 recruit in the 2025 cycle, Hill, who stands 6’ 5” and 215 pounds, could very well become Coach Prime’s next QB1 as a legit replacement for junior Shedeur, who has emerged as a star in his first FBS season.

With the addition of Hill, Colorado has now secured two four-star prospects after also landing ’25 receiver Winston Watkins in December.
