A total of 16.21 lakh students appeared for the class 12 examination, held between February 15 and April 2, of which 14.26 lakh students passed the examination, as per CBSE data.

Of this, 24,068 students scored over 95%. The overall pass percentage was recorded at 87.98%, a 0.65 percent increase from 2024.

The overall gender-wise pass percentage for girls was 91.52 percent, while that of boys was 85.12 percent.

Students appeared for the examination from 18,417 schools in 7,126 examination centres.

“This year, the pass percentage of students in class XII is 87.98, which is 0.65% better than the pass percentage of last year i.e. 87.33%. This shows that students were well prepared for Competency Based Question Papers as this year, 40% Competency Based Questions were asked in the examinations,” said CBSE in a press release on Monday.

In a bid to “avoid unhealthy competition among students”, the board will not declare a merit list this year. However, the board will issue merit certificates to the top 0.1% of students who have scored the highest marks in the subjects.

Thiruvananthapuram region on top in class 12

The Thiruvananthapuram region of CBSE maintained a comfortable edge over other regions in the CBSE Class XII examinations results.

Thiruvananthapuram was followed by Vijayawada (99.04%), Chennai (98.47%) and Bengaluru (96.95%). Delhi West and Delhi East followed with 95.64% and 94.51% respectively.

The region, comprising Kerala and Lakshadweep, registered a pass percentage of 99.91 for the second consecutive year, ahead of Vijayawada with 99.04% and Chennai with 98.47%.

Class 10 results also declared

Soon after the declaration of class 12 results, class 10 results were declared too. Students can access their results via Digilocker or the Umang application

According to data shared by CBSE, a total of 22.38 lakh students appeared for the Class 10 examination from 25,724 schools. A total of 20.95 lakh students passed and the percentage stood at 93.60 percent, a 0.48 percent increase from last year.

The pass percentage for girls was 94.75, while that among boys was 92.71.

47,983 students scored over 95% and 2,12,384 students scored over 90%.

Accessing results

The board said that the result documents will be provided to the students in their DigiLocker. To avoid the problem of accessing the DigiLocker, CBSE has provided the PIN to the schools in advance, to be given to the candidates ahead of the result declaration.

Further, the Board will give printed marksheets and passing certificates to the students through their schools.
