Beauty fans can get Olay, L’Oreal and Elizabeth Arden loads cheaper on Amazon compared to Boots and Superdrug

Beauty lovers could be missing out on huge savings if they didn’t know about an Amazon page that means they can get huge discounts on big name brands like Olay, L’Oreal and Elizabeth Arden. What’s more is than many of the deals makes Amazon cheaper than high street retailers like Boots and Superdrug.

Which begs the question - have we been buying our beauty products in the wrong place this whole time?

On the Amazon website, shoppers can find limited-time deals that see some products slashed by as much as 70 per cent.

In the navigation bar, there is a section called ‘Today’s Deals’ which draws up a number of categories, but look down the left hand side and you can filter by ‘beauty’ products, shopping hair care, skin care, fragrance, cosmetics and electrical beauty for a lot less than the RRP.

Manchester Evening News have dug around for the best deals and found several offers that make Amazon one of best places to hunt for bargain beauty buys. For example, the cheapest we’ve seen the Olay Eyes Firming Eye Serum with Niacinamide for Wrinkles at Boots is £10 as part of their weekly £10 Tuesday deal. The eye cream - which has rave reviews - usually retails for £24.99, but on Amazon, it’s currently down to £7.50, half the price than it is currently at Argos.

Usually £29.99, the L'Oréal Paris Cell Renew Midnight Serum is reportedly a dupe for Estee Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair Serum, which is around £70. Already it’s a huge saving by switching to a cheaper alternative, but Amazon currently has the price reduced to £15.99, making the savings even greater.

Another skincare saviour shoppers have snapped up for less is the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream Intensive Lip Repair now £13.37 on Amazon. The same product costs £15.74 at Superdrug, and is still £21 on the Elizabeth Arden website. Boots have previously reduced this as part of their £10 Tuesday sales - which would be cheaper than Amazon - but you have to act fast as the flash sale only runs for 24 hours, and MEN have only seen it featured once.

Some of the skincare deals aren’t always better though, so it is definitely worth scouting around. The Olay Ultimate Eye Cream For Dark Circles comes in at £9.99 on the global selling site, but it £1.50 less in Superdrug, priced at £7.49, proving it’s always worth shopping around or checking for discount codes before committing to a purchase.

Amazon regularly sees some heavily reduced fragrances, which is ideal for Mother’s Day, birthdays or putting up for Christmas. This week, Ghost Deep Night is £17.75, but is still priced at £40 on JD Williams, while Boots have got it marked up at £26.66. Similarly, Vera Wang Princess has been reduced to £17.84 for 100ml, down from £60. The fragrance is still full price at Boots, but some stores have discounted the scent, including The Perfume Shop and Fragrance Direct, where it’s £20.99 and £24 respectively.

Makeup is also regularly included in the beauty deals on the Amazon website - and it can be up to half price compared to high street stores. High-end brand Illamasqua is one of the brands discounted on Amazon, with their Hydra Setting Spray costing £11.85 down from £20. It’s still full price at Illamasqua and on LookFantastic. Meanwhile, the Rimmel Extra 3D Lash Volumising Mascara is only £2.80 instead of £4.99 at Boots, or a penny less at Savers.

Products that you repeat purchase regularly could save you even more money with Amazon’s subscribe and save scheme. For example, if you love the Max Factor Lasting Performance Long-Lasting Liquid Foundation and get through a bottle every three months, you can order it on repeat and get further discounts. At Boots and Superdrug the foundation costs just under £10, but Amazon has it down to £5.95. Those who use subscribe and save could pay just £5.35, saving 10 per cent, plus a further saving of up to 15 per cent when you schedule a repeat delivery.

There are a few tools shoppers can use to ensure they are actually buying something that is a good deal. One useful website is CamelCamelCamel.

The site will let you check how much Amazon products have been sold for previously. On the free Amazon price tracker site you can see a price history chart which highlights when the product was the cheapest and by how much.

Amazon's lightning deal page is also good for helping to separate products using the filter and price option. It will also give you the best deal of the day.
