Arsenal XI vs Nurnberg: No Havertz - starting lineup, confirmed team news today

Kai Havertz is only on the bench tonight as he looks to make his Arsenal debut in the Gunners’ pre-season friendly against Nurnberg.

The £65m summer signing is part of Mikel Arteta’s 30-man squad who have travelled to Germany as a number of players return to action.

Before kick-off, Martin Odegaard pulled out with a knock to bring Fabio Vieira into the XI.

Gabriel Martinelli, Mohamed Elneny, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Takehiro Tomiyasu are back in training but do not feature while William Saliba starts.

Saliba missed the last two months of last season with a back injury and the club have been cautious in increasing his workload.

Gabriel Jesus and Ben White were among those who featured in a behind-closed-doors draw with Watford last week and the Brazilian striker is on the bench along with Folarin Balogun.

Bukayo Saka starts with Leandro Trossard in midfield to make for an attacking line-up.

Midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga will miss the camp through injury.

Arsenal XI: Ramsdale; White, Saliba, Gabriel, Kiwior; Trossard, Partey, Vieira; Saka, Nketiah, Nelson.

Subs: Hein, Cedric, Tierney, Trusty, Walters, Jorginho, Havertz, Nwaneri, Lewis-Skelly, Jesus, Balogun.
