Arsenal: Mohamed Elneny reveals hard work behind long-range goal expertise after fine Nurnberg strike

Mohamed Elneny has described the work that goes into his long-range shooting after netting a fine strike against Nurnberg in Arsenal’s pre-season friendly.

The Egyptian scored the equaliser in the Gunners’ 5-3 win in Germany on Friday as they came from two goals down in their first official match of the summer.

After the full-time whistle, Elneny explained his delight at the goal which was the result of hard graft on the training pitch.

“It’s what I love!” he told the club website.

“I love to score from distance. It’s what I work on every day in training. After every training, I work on it, when I finish training, I keep shooting from distance.

“Because I know shooting from distance can create a winning [scenario]. If the game is level and we need someone to shoot from outside, they can change the game sometimes. This is what I have to do, work on helping my team in every way.”

Elneny, who signed a new contract at Arsenal at the end of last season, will hope to be part of the side facing Everton on the weekend as the squad head to the United States.
