Narendra Modi meets Xi Jinping in China Live updates: All eyes on Wuhan for key summit

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping are set to hold a series of informal meetings over April 27 and 28 in Wuhan city, where the one-on-one conversations will focus on global, regional and bilateral issues.

The setting is Mao villa — Chairman Mao Zedong’s private home — on the banks of the East Lake, where Modi and Xi are expected to take a boat ride.

Ahead of his departure, Modi told the media his meeting Xi Jinping will “review the developments in India-China relations from a strategic and long-term perspective”.

“We will also discuss our respective visions and priorities for national development, in context of current and future international situation,” said Modi.

9am: Heavy security in Wuhan around PM Modi’s hotel and East Lake. Mao’s villa has been closed to tourists.

8:21am: The leaders will also take a boat ride and a walk by the East Lake, China’s second biggest urban lake.

8:20am: Modi’s schedule for the day also includes a private lunch hosted by president Xi at the East Lake villa, chairman Mao Zendong’s private villa.

7:50pm: PM Mod will meet president Xi at the museum and is expected to spend an hour touring it.

7:30am: The informal talks between the two leaders will begin at the Hubei Provincial Museum at 3:30pm local time (1pm IST) in Wuhan, reports to ANI.
