Vicky Pattison says she 'had to learn the hard way' as she opens up on response to egg freezing journey

Vicky Pattison has told her fans that she had to 'learn the hard way' as she opened up about the response she has received to being open and honest about her egg freezing journey.

The former Geordie Shore star was seen shedding tears of joy after revealing her egg freezing journey with fiance Ercan Ramadan had been a success during a film she recorded for ITV's Lorraine.

Speaking during the exclusive segment on Lorraine, called Vicky Pattison - My Journey To Motherhood, she told viewers: “I’ve just had a call from the lab and out of six mature eggs, that we decided to turn into embryos, three have survived the fertilization and blastocyst process, so that’s pretty amazing."

Brimming with emotion, she explained: "That means three little me and Ercans are going in the freezer. I’m over the moon!" She then joined Lorraine and Dr Hilary live in the studio on Tuesday (June 20), Vicky shared: "When you're freezing your eggs you're so focused on the end goal…

"You don’t even consider the journey and how you get there. I actually think that was a huge reason why I've decided to do this. I just think most women who do it are unprepared, so I underestimated the process."

Explaining her decision to wait to have a family later in life, Vicky, 35, said: "I’ve had moments where I think, ‘come on just do it now’, but the thing is, I’m trying to be responsible, Lorraine. I want to be the very best parent I can be, and in order to be that, I have to do it at the right time.

"So I’m hoping that in the next couple of years I’ll be able to conceive naturally, but if I can’t and if anything does happen, I have that security blanket so to speak."

Following her live TV appearance, Vicky took to social media where she shared a string of pictures and videos which were taken during her egg freezing journey. The TV star said: "Huge Thankyou to @lorrainekellysmith & all of her fab team who allowed me to make my film & come on the show today to talk about my decision to freeze my eggs."

She carried on: "I know that this is subject can be incredibly triggering for some people & subsequently I've always tried to be super sensitive when discussing my journey- as I know I've been really lucky so far & I'm super aware that this isn't the case for everyone. I wanted to share my journey predominantly because I didn't feel like there was enough honest & relatable discourse out there surrounding egg freezing.

Vicky had candidly shared a look at her fertility journey (Vicky Pattison Instagram)

"When I first started looking into it- I felt overwhelmed, alone & completely out of my depth. And no one I spoke to understood my fears. I felt in no way ready to bring a child into this world but I panicked that when I did feel ready- my body wouldn't be able to.

"I wanted women who are battling with their own ticking biological clock & their complicated feelings towards motherhood to know that they had options. That they can make responsible & smart decisions to try & safeguard their future happiness without having to compromise on their present hopes & dreams. And I stand by my decision..."

However, Vicky went on to explain that the decision hasn't been easy in the eyes of others. "But I wasn't prepared for the judgement & hate that my journey would receive," she typed "I, unfortunately, had to learn the hard way that some people just aren't ready to accept the concept of a woman that is in a healthy relationship, but is still not ready to have children.

"The concept of a woman who still has many things she wants to achieve, places she wants to see & experiences she wants to have before she becomes a mother. I suppose the concept of a strong, liberated woman doing things on her own timeline is a scary one for some people.. But I'm not going to let those opinions stop me sharing my story. Because I know there are women out there who need to hear it.

"No matter what you do, someone will have something negative to say. People judge & criticise other people's lives when they're not happy with their own. Follow your heart. Do what's right for you. And just know, you don't need everyone's approval to be happy. Oh & never base your decisions on the advice of those who don't have to deal with the results."

And former Queen of the Jungle Vicky was quickly flooded with praise and supportive messages. @emzdavo said: "Needed to hear this. More power to you. So glad you share the truth and rawness of this subject." @cosmetics_char1990 wrote: "I also think your really brave and it gives others out there who's thinking of doing the same the courage to do it."

@londonwomensclinic commented: "You’ve been incredible throughout this journey, truly breaking down the barriers!" @jojohelsby67 added: "Love how open and honest you have been thoughout your journey and love how Ecram supports n respects your wishes x Hope all carries on in the right direction for you both."
