Vampire Survivors Challenges You to Take on the Laborratory

When Vampire Survivors first came out, there were players that asked how items got their names. We'll hopefully get an answer to some of those questions with the release of Patch 1.10. Dubbed as the "Laborratory," there's a lot of new content to enjoy.

Let's start with the obvious and check out the new stage which is none other than the Laborratory. This is a challenge stage where everything out there is trying to kill you, even the narrow corridors. There are also some special levers, which when pulled can trigger positive effects, though it's mainly dependent on luck. These levers can also bring out weapons and even passives.

New Weapons

The new update adds the Santa Javelin & Seraphic Cry to the arsenal. While it can initially aim for random enemies, it eventually allows for critical hits and even turns the Duration stat into an additional Amount for itself. It's compatible with special arcanas and needs a maxed-out Clover so that it can be evolved.

Its evolution makes use of Luck to deal additional damage. Picking up Rosaries while it is equipped turns them into a quadruple screen clearing explosion that turns enemies into XP gems.

Other New Content

Other new content that arrived with the new update include:

  • New Passive: Arma Dio
    • Allows you to choose any base-game passive.
    • It also counts as a weapon which mean sit can be chosen from a Candybox.
  • New Character: Santa Ladonna
    • Starts with a temporary cooldown bonus and automatically triggers a Rosary when reaching critically low HP.
    • You'll need to recover hp to full to recharge the ability).
  • New stage: Carlo Cart
    • A silly little bonus stage where you can't fully stop moving.
    • It plays very differently compared to the average stage.
    • No extra unlocks are tied to playing it.
  • New power-up: Seal III
    • It's a more convenient Seal power-up that allows you to seal three items per rank.
    • This brings the total number of sealable items to 60.

Vampire Survivors was first made available for the PC in 2022. It was then released for the Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and mobile platforms in the same year. Then it 2023 it was ported for the Nintendo Switch. Versions for the PlayStation consoles is in development and expected to be released sometime this year.
