The trial in Manhattan involving prosecutors' hush money case against Donald Trump is entering a critical phase as their key witness, Michael Cohen, faces intense cross-examination from the defense. Cohen's testimony is pivotal in implicating the former president in a scheme to suppress damaging stories during his 2016 presidential campaign.

During his time on the witness stand, Cohen directly linked Trump to efforts to silence women alleging sexual encounters and falsifying business records to cover up payments. The defense is now challenging Cohen's credibility, suggesting he has ulterior motives and is not a reliable witness.

Cohen detailed a meeting where Trump, himself, and Allen Weisselberg discussed reimbursements for hush money payments, which prosecutors claim were falsely categorized as legal expenses. Trump maintains that the payments were legitimate and aimed at protecting his family, not his campaign.

The defense has been scrutinizing Cohen's past, highlighting his history of lies and his financial gains from criticizing Trump. They aim to cast doubt on his testimony and motives for turning against the former president.

The trial is expected to continue with further questioning of Cohen by the defense, with the possibility of rebuttal witnesses. The defense may call an expert witness but has not confirmed if Trump will testify.

Despite the intense legal proceedings, the trial will pause on Friday to allow Trump to attend his son Barron's high school graduation. The outcome of the trial remains uncertain as both sides present their arguments and evidence.
