Paramount and Hasbro's animated Transformers One is delaying its theatrical release by one week to capitalize on Imax screens and create some distance from competing films. The movie will now debut on Sept. 20, 2023, instead of the previously scheduled Sept. 13. This adjustment allows for a two-week gap between Transformers One and Sony's Beetlejuice. Paramount made this announcement alongside the launch of a new trailer for Transformers One, which was unveiled in a groundbreaking manner - from space, a first in Hollywood history.

The trailer launch commenced at 6 a.m. PT with a live-streamed countdown showcasing the journey into space. After an hour, the craft reached an altitude of 125,000 feet above Earth, revealing the trailer with a special introduction video from voice actors Chris Hemsworth and Brian Tyree Henry. The star-studded voice cast also includes Scarlett Johansson, Keegan-Michael Key, Steve Buscemi, Laurence Fishburne, and Jon Hamm.

Transformers One is touted as the inaugural fully CG-animated Transformers film, presenting the untold origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron, who were once allies akin to brothers before a significant falling out altered the destiny of Cybertron forever. At CinemaCon, theater owners were given a sneak peek of the trailer, with Hemsworth and Henry introducing the first 3D scene from the movie. Hemsworth voices Orion Pax, a young Optimus Prime, while Henry portrays D-16, a young Megatron.

The film is helmed by director Josh Cooley (Toy Story 4) with a script penned by Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari for Paramount Animation and Hasbro in collaboration with New Republic Pictures. In a separate scheduling update, Paramount has postponed the release of its untitled animated Aang: The Last Airbender Avatar movie from Oct. 10, 2025, to Jan. 30, 2026.
